Nitrous is now available at The Birth Cottage!
Nitrous Oxide has also been called laughing gas and is frequently used at dental offices to help reduce anxiety and discomfort associated with procedures. Nitrous has been used in other developed countries for decades and has recently become more readily available at hospitals and birth centers in the United States.

While nitrous may not be for everyone, it can be an option for people who want to take the edge off of the intensity of labor. It can also be used as a tool when additional medical procedures can become necessary, such as suturing.
Nitrous is only available at the birth center and not available for homebirths.
Be sure to talk to your midwife about the advantages of using nitrous!
